The band started life as a trio called Hyperactive in November 1982. It was not until May ’83 when Thomas Yourell joined the band on vocals that they change their name to Siberia. The sound of the band changed as well. To more of a pop sound with vocal harmony’s.

Siberia’s set was 100% original material. In their early career Philip was the song writer. When Thomas joined the band song writing became a band collaboration. The songs became more poppy with catchy lyrics. A similar style to Squeeze.

In April 83 fellow Dumboyne band Varicose Veins fist gig in Dunshaughlin St Patrick’s Hall 30/04/1983, Siberia were support band. The two bands regularly played together at St Patricks Hall & the Limetree.
