Carling/Hot Press 1989 Competition
Stands Looking Back took part in the 1989 Carling Hot Press competition at Sir Henry’s in Cork. They didn’t get past the heat stages with the judges describing them as too diverse with no standout track. They were the only band from Cork to make the final twenty that year. They played in Heat 4 along with The drive (Limerick) the winners that week, Lunatic Fringe (Belfast) and So She Said (Dublin).
The competition is held at Sir Henry’s, in Cork over 5 weeks. With the winner each week going on to the final.
