Resisdance by all reports a band that should have made it, but like many others, fell by the wayside. Colm Campbell also played with a band called The Weeds, they played 1960’s cover versions.

The Weeds would often be the support for Resisdance. During October they had a Wednesday night residency at the Ivy rooms & in November 1981 Resisdance had a Sunday residency at O’Brien’s Hotel with Redeemer.

Pat Pidgeon & Johnny Ringo had both previously play with the Soul Survivors.

23/09/1981 Ivy Rooms The room where Resisdance play is about ten by thirty. Before Resisdance come on a band called the Weeds play cover versions of many classics from the sixties. In the room next door where I go to get a pint four black men are talking to three bus conductors. Autobop are singing something about Galway in yet another room. I go downstairs to the toilets. They smell. The sign on the door reads Argent Orange. When I return some attractive girls are dancing to Weeds’ version of “Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown”. The lead sounds as if he’s swallowed his gum. The Weeds leave the stage. Resisdance appear. Same drummer. Same PA. They start. This is more like it. The lead singer is Johnny Ringo (McMenamin). He is the best lead singer this viewer has herd for a long time. They play eighteen songs, all originals. Some of these songs would be hits if a music company where smart enough to sign Resisdance up. For the last twenty minutes of their set all thirty punters are dancing. Resisdance are too good to be stuck playing gigs like this. They look like a more disillusioned version of the Stones. See them soon. Tom Mathews In Dublin.
