They won a local Silver Tankard talent contest and claimed £2,000 in the process. A early gig was supporting The Blades in Drogheda. They appeared at least once on RTE Jobsuss with Dave Fanning. During December 1985 & January 1986 they toured Ireland with the Bogey Boys on their 20 date Back To Basics tour. In 1985 they had a June/July residency at the Baggot Inn Dublin. Later in 1986 they had a residency at The Coconut Grove, they regularly played Drogheda & Navan.
Demo Recordings
They made at least one demo tape at Slane Studio, the tracks were “Dreamers Life”, “She’s My Girl” and “Vicious Circle”, “Experienced Son” was expected to be the “B” side of their first single. Described as a blistering up tempo delight. By all accounts this was an excellent demo tape.
Recordings
April 1985 they released a single on the Mama’s Boys Pussy Record label which got good airplay 7″ Sweet Sensation/Dreamer’s Life PU018. By this time Tony Smith had replaced Eddie Smith on drums. Tony was formerly with the Bogey Boys. A Second single on the Stoic label in Jan 86 is reported in the press. The title of the track is “Please Please Me”. I can’t find any record of this single.
Derek would play sax on the Aslan single Loving Me Lately. Damien McGoona would later join Paul Cleary’s band The Partisans.
