Minor Detail simply sent their demo tapes to influential music people in Ireland and the UK, and directly to record companies in the USA. This lead to the recording of their first album Minor Detail.
The brothers formed their first band, “Ned Spoon” back in the 60’s when Willie was only 12. In the 70’s they formed an experimental all acoustic group called “Highway”. The group used instruments like Cello, Flutes, Tin Whistles and Indian Pipes, but didn’t last long.
Willie then returned to University to study music & philosophy & John joined the family business. They began to write their own material and put more emphasis on keyboards and synthesizers, leading to the successful demo tape. The single “Why Take It Again” is taken from that album.

In 1986 they took part in the Carling Black label Lee Fields open air concert, Playing to 30,000 fans Chris De Burgh headlined the show. The band that played this concert were a 6 piece band, the other members are not known. Also on the bill were Azure Days, Paul Brady & Hidden Fears.
