Paul Healy would later join his brother Brian in The Outfit. The IOU’s set contains mainly original material, in a similar style to Joe Jackson & Elvis Costello. Darren Sheehan was the main writer in the band. Some of their tracks were played on the Dave Fanning Rock Show.
IOU’s Recordings
The IOU’s are known too have recorded at least one demo tape at Studio Fiona in Furmoy in November 1979. Has anyone got a copy of this, or know the track listings. Please get in touch.
Touring
The band toured Ireland extensively. By March 1980 they regularly played some of the bigger venues such as Wolfe Tones, Abbey Inn, NIHE, Showboat, Banna Beach Hotel Kerry, U.C.C. Town Hall Newmarket, Ocean Lounge Youghal. There is a report in the Limerick Leader newspaper stating that the band had been on the road for two months.
Horslips At The Savoy
Probably their biggest break came when they were offered the support slot with Irish legends Horslips. The IOU’s played their hometown gig at the Savoy in Limerick. At this time I’m not sure if they were the support act on any of the other dates on the tour.
