Daylight Robbery

Residency

Their first gig was on 9th Feb ’79 at Bagnell’s of Mullingar. One of their first gigs was at the Crofton Airport Hotel, Dublin. Taking over from the resident band Stagalee. Although listed as a Jazz rock band in the local Drogheda press, this maybe missing leading as it also lists some of the artists they covered are Ace, Foreigner, Stevie Wonder, The Cars & Alice Cooper. The band quickly gained a reputation for their harmonies and musicianship. Later on their set would start to included numbers written by the band.

Crofton Airport Hotel

Tricia is one of the best female singers I have come across in quite a while. She sings virtually every song and has proved that she can last the pace. She is no stranger to the stage, having experience of appearing in Wales and on the folk scene.

Strength

The very compact Brendan plays drums. This young man is full of vitality and strength and shows his knowledge of music in the way he plays. On bass is Colm Maguire. He has been around for quite sometime in the business playing with various bands. Colm is the quite man of the group.

Twin Lead Guitar

Daylight Robbery have twin lead guitarists. Eric Sharpe has one thing in common with the other musicians in the band that is his outstanding ability. The other half of this twin lead guitar arrangement is Pat Coldrick. Pat is no stranger to the stage, playing with John Collier. I have seen Pat play a Rory Gallagher number “Messing with the Kid”. I thought it was one of the best interpretations I have ever herd.

Sell Out Gigs

In March ’79 a gig at the Hideout (Drogheda) people had to turned away at the door the crowd inside was so large. They are known to have played at least two benefit gigs for the victims of a house fire. In June Daylight Robbery started to play the much bigger national Ballroom circuit, filling in the whole left by Horslips. Around this time Alan Barton replaced Brendan on drums, Steve McGowan also joined the band replacing Pat Coldrick. This line up was very short lived as they played their last gig in August
