Shark Bait
Psychobilly mixes elements of punk rock, rockabilly and other musical genres. Ireland’s prime psychobilly exponents are Shark Bait from Dublin. Shark Bait band members are Dave Finnegan on lead vocals and guitar, Fergal Heapes on guitar, Martin Farrell on double bass and Simon Farrell on drums.
Shark Bait are known for their live performances on the Irish gig scene. They make a rare television appearance on ‘Visual Eyes’ where they give a spirited studio performance of the track ‘Shark Bait’.
Formed in 1985, Shark Bait split up when Dave Finnegan was cast as Mickah Wallace in the 1991 film adaptation of ‘The Commitments’ directed Alan Parker. In this role Dave Finnegan plays a temperamental bouncer who becomes drummer for The Commitments band.
Presented by Dave Fanning the ‘Visual Eyes’ series includes items on visual arts and media and studio performances from Irish bands.
This episode of ‘Visual Eyes’ was broadcast on 13 August 1986.
