Alcove are known to have played at least one Saturday afternoon concert at Blaze X Records in Dublin, they also played the Baggot Inn.
Demo’s and Airplay
They got airplay and were interviewed on local radio, their track Armageddon is said to be Dire Straits influenced. Alcove recorded at least two demo tapes. One at Alto & one at Lombard studio, They won a “Battle Of The Bands” competition held at Blackrock College and hosted by BP Fallon.
2nd Ballina International Song Contest
In 1981 Alcove entered the rock section of the 2nd International Ballina song contest. The song entered was called “Mistakes” written by Joe & Jim. At this time, I don’t know who they did in the competition.
