Neighbours
Strength In Numbers started life as a trio, with all three members being neighbours, Vincent O’Brien, Michael Rogers & Michael Brennan, living in the same street in Portlaoise. They were soon joined by Richard Whelan & George Keyes. Richard was the main song writer within the group. For a short while they had a female bass player, but she left the band when she got a job in Dublin.
Jenny E.P.
In December 1988 Strength In Numbers released their vinyl E.P. at a party in Spiders night club in Portlaoise. The tracks on the E.P. are Jenny, Accepting The Rhyme, Failure & Famo, Guilty Past. I don’t think this single charted, I can’t a record of it on the Irish charts. In 1987 they released a double “A” side cassette single Crazy World & Straight From The Heart.
Mother Records
Mother Records did show an interest in the band, they were rung by an agent saying he would coming down to watch them in Newbridge. It’s not known if he saw the gig or not. But they did not get signed by the label.
