In August 1980 Sarsaparilla became Side Kick, their drummer Ray Ellis had former been in The Vipers. One of Dublin’s first “punk” bands. In December 1981 the band recorded a 3 track demo tape. I have no details of the tracks at this time.
They had residency during 1980 and 1981 at the Baggot Inn, Toners both in Dublin Mathers in Drogheda & Mississippi Rooms Bray. Unlike most of the other Dublin bands of that time they also played gigs outside of Dublin including the Cellar Rooms, Dundalk.
During January 1981, Side Kick had a Thursday night residency at Toners.
