Ballina Town Hall

Polar Moon were used as the local support act for the Ballina Town Hall concerts. They would go on to support many of the better known bands of the day, this would include U2, Sneaker, Roache Band, Berlin, Myster Men.

Local Schools & Collages

Patrick & Ronan were brothers, Ann was still in school, when the band first started out, she did not take her leaving exam until 1980. Most of their early concerts were at local schools & colleges in the Ballina area. Before the band split they did go on to play the Town Hall as the headline act.

International Song Contest

06/05/1979 The 1st International Ballina song contest takes place at the Town Hall, Polar Moon are the backing band for the competition. Well known Irish band at the time “Tweed” were the judges. A year later the 2nd International Ballina song contest takes place again Polar Moon are the guest band. This year the winner of the competition will win £1,000.

Wheelchair Charity

Over the Christmas period in 1981 the band play a 6 hour long concert to raise money for a local wheelchair charity. They promise not to play the same song twice. The concert features music written by the band as well as classic rock songs.
