Under Construction

Certain pages on this site are still under construction, please bare with me me on this. I hope to have them completed in the near fure.

Please click on the Welcome to Ghostown 1976 tab above to find out about the aims of this site and what I hope to achieve. I aim to cover the Irish music scene from 1976 to 1983. This is not just the story of the rise of U2 but also the story of many of the other Irish bands around at that time.

Joe Savino in the stripped trousers above is now a well known actor in Ireland. The Vipers picture is the 4th line up of the band featuring Englishman Bernie Smirnoff on drums. Bitzy (back to the camera) of the Strougers right hand picture, is now with the brilliant Lee Harveys.

Phil Lynott & Thin Lizzy

Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy were a massive influence on many of the young and upcoming bands at this time. Giving support slots on their UK tours to Radiators From Space, The Vipers, The Lookalikes. He also gave a very young U2 a support slot at The Stardust in 1978.
