During 1977 U2 started playing to live audiences using their name they were known as at the time, The Hype. These were mainly concerts in church halls, schools etc in the Sutton, Howth area of Dublin. Their first major gigs in the city centre of Dublin would not take place until February 1978 supporting The Vipers at McGonagle’s.
October/November 1976 Mount Temple Comprehensive, Dublin, Ireland
The Mount Temple School talent competition would be their first public outing of the group, the first time in front of an audience other than friends who turned up at their rehearsals.
Their 1st performance took place after Ivan McCormick left the band. The set includes Show Me the Way, A Beach Boys Medley, Bye Bye Baby, Encore: Bye Bye Baby.
