Against the Grain had a bad night and so had the majority of the audience. A terrible sound mix and constant feed back were the main faults. I like their songs, even if they do tend to sound like P.I.L. retreads at times, and while some would think their lyrics clichéd they have a social awareness and honesty about them that pulls those clichés apart. As I said, a bad gig. They and I know that they can do better. So do better OK?

Their most popular song was a track called “Street Dream Existence”.
Like Dublin & Cork, Drogheda had it’s own scene & just like Cork & Dublin local bands biggest problem was finding somewhere they could play. In the mid to late 80’s the Boxing Club became the place go. If you get the chance read “Subvert All Power” book. It will give a more in depth look at the Drogheda scene.
