Mississippi Mermaids entered the Carling/Hot Press Battle Of The Bands contest in 1991 held at Sir Henry’s in Cork. According to a article in the Cork Evening Echo Mississippi Mermaids were the favourites to win the competition. They were the winners of Heat 4 and came in second in the final too My Little Fun House.
