28/07/1979 Dandelion Market, Dublin, Ireland

This is a complete list of known U2 concerts that took place in Ireland in 1979. These dates do not include the dates U2 played in London on the U2-3 tour. I have spent many hours trawling the Irish Newspaper Archive, The Dublin Library and talking to those that were there, too make this the most complete document of U2’s early career. This site would not be possible without them, the Dublin Library & the Irish Newspaper Archive.

Attendance; unknown
Support; The Strougers
Admission; £0.50p
Set;
Anarchy In the UK, Out Of Control, Glad To See You Go, Stories For Boys,

The Edge misses this concert due to an illness. Bono begins the show doing both vocals and guitar, but after a few songs he calls out to the audience to see if anyone can play guitar. A guy named Joe Savino indicates he can, and fills in for Edge for the rest of the show. Joe Savino sang with another Dublin band The BT’s. The Strougers also joined U2 on stage and played some Ramones & Sex Pistols covers, including a rousing version of “Anarchy In The UK”. From “Past The Point of Rescue” by Bitzy Fitzgerald singer with the Strougers.
