Black Arthur & the Undertakers were a short-lived yet influential punk band from Wexford, Ireland, active during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Though they never released any official recordings during their initial run, they left a notable mark on the local music scene. They often supported The Roach Band at the Imperial Bar and became known for their raw energy and rebellious spirit.
The original lineup included Niall Lacey, Mick O’Brien, Pat Hayes, and Tony Hall. After the band disbanded, several members went on to form the acclaimed rock group Cry Before Dawn, while Lacey joined Tru’penny Opera.

In 2012, the band was posthumously featured on the compilation CD Dreamers & Corner Boys: Rock, Pop & Indie Wexford Bands 1978–1989. This collection celebrated Wexford’s vibrant music scene from that era and included a newly recorded track, “Boppin Down The Bog Road,” written by Niall Lacey and performed with former bandmates Mick O’Brien and Pat Hayes.

Dreamers & Corner Boys was a charity cassette featuring Wexford bands from 1978 – 1989. The bands were Zerra 1, Tru’penny Opera, Cry Before Dawn, The Roach Band, Pierce Turner, Prime Suspect, The Vision, The Beatless, Elekton, Overdrive, Bantu Bottle Company, Twlight Dreamers, Local contact, Darchadas, Black 47, Hi Output, The Third Mind, The Ensemble.
