Formed in 1990 by Pat Clafferty<\/strong> (vocals\/guitar) and Jill Hahn<\/strong> (guitar), with Derrick Dalton<\/strong> (bass) joining shortly after, Mexican Pets drew inspiration from American alternative rock bands like H\u00fcsker D\u00fc and Dinosaur Jr. Their sound is characterized by raw, lo-fi energy, heartfelt lyrics, and a blend of indie rock and punk influences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band underwent several lineup changes, notably adding Brian Gough<\/strong> (guitar\/organ) and Fionan O’Leary<\/strong> (drums) in the mid-’90s. They were known for their energetic live performances and became a staple in the Dublin underground music scene.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pat Clafferty was the main song writer with the Mexican Pets, on their mini album (Nobody’s Working Title) the song lyrics were included on the sleeve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b”Nobody’s Working Title” is the debut mini-album by the Dublin-based indie\/punk band Mexican Pets.<\/a> Recorded in the summer of 1994 at Sonic Studios in Dublin, the album was released in 1996 under Blunt Recordings. The tracks are “Stigmata Errata”, “Magnet Force”, “Subside”, “Magnet Force”, “How to Have More Fun”, “Bruise”, “Merry Hell”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mexican Pets briefly split up in February 1994, with Pat Clafferty joining Wheel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darlings of the Dublin underground<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

During the early to mid 90’s Pet Lamb<\/a>, The Mexican Pets & Wormhole<\/a> were the darlings of the Dublin unground music scene. The three bands would often be on the same bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
