Following in the footsteps of the Boy Scoutz, Of Xerox were an all girl band, for the first year of their existence. The original drummer Kerry left to be replaced by Chris Ward from Manchester. By this time the band were getting support slots at McGonagle’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From Vox fanzine<\/strong> “Basically, we got together because we were bored. Originally we brought out a fanzine called “Ten Pence Worth”, but it was a failure. We featured the “Pretty” in it. Then we got three acoustic guitars and started playing with the intension of forming a band. We actually played at Jonah’s in Leopardstown, it was an absolute disaster. We didn’t get a sound check and the guitars were out of tune after bringing them across town. There we only about a dozen people in the audience. But now we are confident to keep playing until we make something of the band, even if my dad says I sound unnatural when I sing. Not only is it difficult to get gigs as an all female band but we can’t even get into most gigs. At the Magnet they said it was only over twenty ones.
