After many months of intensive practice, Waterford’s latest group Airforce takes off this week and with its first gig in Anchor Bar, Drunmore East (08/03/1981).
The band consists of Paul Condon bass, Terry Barry Lead Guitar and Vocals, Ger O’Halloran Synthrisizers and Vocals, and John Daly Drums. It is unique in that it is doing all original material written by its own members.
As anyone in the music business will know, doing 100% original programme is an enormous undertaking. It is for this reason that it has taken so long to finally start gigging, but though very hard work they have now got their sound together.
It has always been the intention from the onset which very few groups do, but contacts in Dublin have encouraged the lads to stick to writing and playing their own music. It could be classed as Pop/Rock.
Airforce played all the usual venues in the Waterford area including the Showboat, Blackwater Tavern, Anchor Bar, Katie Rielys,
Mick Sinnott joins Airforce Jan 82, replacing Ger O'Halloran.
